RESUMEN

En el presente artículo analizamos algunas ideas relevantes del filósofo inglés Alfred North Whitehead en su obra Los fines de la educación porque consideramos pertinente mantener un espacio sobre los valores e ideales que guían la teoría y práctica educativa. Ante la diversidad de interpretaciones en torno a la educación, nos interesa exponer una perspectiva filosófica que propone como ideal educativo la sabiduría, defiende la disciplina y la libertad como elementos del proceso educativo y otorga a la Universidad la misión educativa más alta para lograr tal ideal educativo.

THE AIMS OF EDUCATION. EDUCATE FOR WISDOM: PROPOSAL OF ALFRED NORTH WHITEHEAD

ABSTRACT

Presently article analyzes the English philosopher’s outstanding ideas Alfred North Whitehead in its work The ends of the education because we consider pertinent to maintain a space on the values and ideals that guide the theory and educational practice. In the face of the diversity of interpretations around the education, it interests us to expose a philosophical perspective that proposes as educational ideal the wisdom, it defends the discipline and the freedom as elements of the educational process and it grants to the University the highest educational mission to achieve such an educational ideal.
